On July 21, 2010 a good friend of the Our World-Underwater family passed away.  Wes Skiles was first and foremost a cave diver who used his talents behind the lens to show us all the beauty that lays beneath the surface of the water.  An accomplished diver, photographer, videographer Wes used his skills to make diving safer and entertained us all with magnificent images of the underwater world.  As the former Training Chairman of the National Speleological Societies, Cave Diving Section (NSSCDS) Wes charged the national SCUBA training agencies with the responsibility of training both instructors and students to stay out of "overhead environments", adding wrecks and ice to broaden the scope.  These efforts along with "No Lights Rule" dramatically decreased the numbers of deaths, saving untold lives.  As an explorer, Wes explored over 75 miles of Northern Florida caves and took his skills and talents to caves on 5 different continents.  As the president and owner of Karst Productions, Inc. Wes has won dozens of major international film festival awards. His outstanding camera work garnered him "Best Cinematogrphy"  in HD Documentary 2 years in a row.  From flying a "Newtsuit" to being the first person to set foot on and film the largest iceberg in recorded history, Wes will be missed by divers and non-divers alike.  OW-U would like to express our sympathy to his family Terri, Nathan and Tessa.  God Bless.
